Welcome, and thank you for choosing Battery String Studio. Here's how the studio works, laid out plainly so there are never any surprises.
Tuition
Lessons are weekly and billed monthly at one flat rate. Your monthly tuition is the year's total tuition divided evenly into twelve payments, so you pay the same amount every month, including months with a holiday or a studio break. The studio takes about six weeks off each year for holidays and summer, and those weeks are already accounted for in your monthly rate — so you're never paying for weeks I'm closed. The six weeks aren't lessons you're losing; they're subtracted from the year's total before it's divided into twelve. That's what keeps your payment smooth and predictable instead of jumping around month to month. Tuition is due at the start of each month and is non-refundable.
Your reserved time
Your monthly tuition reserves your weekly lesson slot. You're holding that time each week, whether or not you attend any given lesson — the same way a membership holds your place.
If you need to miss a lesson
Give at least 24 hours' notice and I'll offer a make-up when my schedule allows, up to two make-ups a month. Missed lessons without 24 hours' notice, or no-shows, can't be made up. Because your slot is reserved for you, missed lessons aren't refunded.
If I need to cancel
If I ever have to cancel a lesson, you'll get a make-up or a credit toward next month — since that one's on me.
Studio closures
The studio closes about six weeks a year for holidays and summer breaks, announced in advance. These are already accounted for in your monthly rate, so there's no charge and nothing to make up.
Starting mid-month
If you start partway through a month, that first partial month is billed per lesson at the regular rate, and your smooth monthly subscription begins the first of the following month.
Pausing
Need a break? You can pause for up to one month and keep your slot. Beyond that, we'll end the subscription, and you're welcome to rejoin when a slot opens.
Canceling
Subscriptions are month-to-month. You'll finish out the month you're in and simply won't be billed the following month. Just let me know before the first.
